Review: Lucky by Marissa Stapley

Star Rating: 5 Stars

Grade: A

Taylor Jenkins Reid’s quote lines the top of the novel, “the most fun I've had reading a novel in a long time",” and boy, was she right.

Lucky by Marissa Stapley details the journey of our lead character, named Lucky (or Luciana, or Alaina, or Andi) as she evades arrest and attempts to find who she truly is in the process. Lucky is a charming story about love, redemption, identity and what it means to be moral. Lucky is a con artist, who was raised to be one by her father. The story details the current situation Lucky is in as she evades arrest, but also shows how she got here starting at the beginning of her childhood, jumping timelines every few pages.

I have nothing bad to say about Lucky. The book was adorable, to say the least. It is so easy to get lost in the story and finish the book in one sitting. You will feel lots of emotions while reading this story, and leave the book wondering if you should actually love these people because of what they did. The storyline is unique and organic, unlike anything I have read before. This book is full of complex characters and moments, that will leave you only wanting more.

I loved this story, there is not a fault in this book. The twist, to my dismay (since I love predicting twists), was not something I predicted and I was actually very surprised when I finally put it together. This was a beautiful, quick read. I highly recommend!
